The Supergirl FLOP Got You Down?? Here's A Visual Storytelling TRIPLE THREAT To Counter Big Hollywood's Continuous Slide Into Woke Bankruptcy

I've been dodging half-assed Hollywood movies all year now and have gotten to the point where I must Google a movie first to check the reviews in order to avoid spending nearly 2 HRS in a theater with a badly written movie that believes it's objective is to LECTURE ME about morality. That's wokeness in a nutshell and why it's repulsive. And here's the kicker: a woke film is not just a movie who's values I disagree with; it can be a movie that shares my own values BUT tries to hammer them into my head with a sledgehammer in every damn scene of the film. Nothing can save a woke film because at it's heart it's a bad idea to let a few ideas command the attention of an entire script.

1. 'BACKROOMS' - This is a quietly brilliant 'little' film who's terror grows on you rapidly after the first act. The set-up involves a desperate business owner who discovers that his customer-barren furniture store is actually a PORTAL INTO A DEPTH PSYCHO-MANIFESTATED REALITY of his own (and other's) making. Be prepared for some of the strangest, bizarre and seat-gripping scenery you've ever seen in a modern horror movie. It's psychological horror filmmaking at it's finest that invokes the 'villain' of the classic science fiction film, 'Forbidden Planet'. If you recall the villain of that movie was the manifestation of an entire species' psychological 'ID' (the primal, unconscious mind -a psychologically dangerous thing if UNLEASHED). This film's antagonist plays along that line but in a more subtle fashion.

2. 'OBSESSION' - To call this film a 'trip' is to undersell it tremendously. It's yet another example of a low budget movie that either forces it's creators to focus on what actually matters in storytelling in general (interesting characters) or try to win you over with half-assed attempts at making you THINK it has a big budget to work with (shoddy special effects become the soul of the film PLUS C-level old actors star in it). 

If you think about it ANY STORY can be engrossing if the CHARACTERS are as interesting or even more interesting than the shit that's happening to them (the plot). 'Obsession' really displays that by taking the ordinary awkward single guy and turning his journey into masculinity one hell of a ride (SPOILER: he NEVER reaches masculinity because too much shit -like DEMONS -get into his way).

The plot of 'Obsession' is simple: Our hero craves a girl that appears to be oblivious to his love of her. But his fortune appears to change when he buys a magical toy that promises all his dreams can come true. The toy doesn't lie but it also never told him HOW those dreams would come true. As they say, the devil is in the details and in this story that saying comes true... LITERALLY.

3. 'EVIL DEAD BURN' - This film rocks from beginning to end. It's packed full of evil in the form of obnoxious characters and even more wretched villains from Hell itself -all of it acted or CGI'd to sweet perfection! The plot is simple enough: the grandson of a demon hunter and his brother's ex wife find themselves embroiled in a life or death or Hell On Earth Battle for ownership of a powerful object (of course). But after a while you won't give a damn about what that object is... you'll just be grateful YOU ARE NOT ONE OF THE HEROES IN THIS MOVIE!!! He, she and they get the shit kicked out them sideways.

Yep, it's that damn fantastic. The fight sequences are exquisitely crafted, merging both camera angle and character reactions in utterly incredibly sequences of violence like a Master Chef putting together a meal for the President of the USA. Nothing is left to chance or accident here and you can almost see the director making sure the storyboards in pre-production were an exact replica of a film he already impossibly shot -as if he were working BACKWARDS the whole time!

There is so much going on right in this movie that I'm not going to bother with anything that may be done wrong in it. Suffice to say that any such data is probably subliminal due to the fact that the power of the filmmakers actually overwhelms your critical thinking to the point of making admiration an actual conducive factor to the visual storytelling -in other words, the synchronization of all elements of the film turn it into a learning experience, not mere entertainment. Watch this film and learn how the Art of Filmmaking is done!

All three of these films bypass the annoying 'woke' (Left-leaning politics) nonsense of modern Hollywood. If you don't think wokeness is real or disagree with the idea that it interferes with visual storytelling then you need to consider this hypothetical scene:

Imagine a science fiction movie where the a group of astronauts stranded in a gigantic space station are cut off from Earth and preparing for an alien attack consisting of beings who turn their prisoners of war into decidedly feminized drones that obey them forever! The hero of this movie is an overtly RIGHT-WING cowboy (has the hat too!) and spouts out ancient CHRISTIAN ideas and believes in the strict interpretation of the governing principles of the long lost civilization known as The USA. The crew of this space station are a mixture of people. But many of them are fierce individuals who believe everyone must carry his own weight / is responsible for his or her ultimate survival when the shit really hits the fan. They argue and battle some of the people who attempt to teach them that they must all come together to defeat the enemy. But this is to no avail and during the attack on the space station the hero of the film is the only one to escape and rockets off it in a hastily repaired single occupant escape pod. As he flies away he yells to the aliens, "You'll never take my manhood from me! NEVER!!

Now, during the beginning of this film or it's middle most people will realize that this movie has a POLITICAL MESSAGE because it mirrors the politics of current Western Civilization too extremely to be just a coincidence. Now imagine this movie isn't the ONLY ONE YOU'VE SEEN THIS YEAR DOING THIS.

You're gonna leave the theater believing that the movie is Right-Wing aware or 'WOKE' and you are being LECTURED TO. The movie has crossed the 'DO NOT CROSS LINE' of visual storytelling and that means the destruction of the SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF. The 'Suspension of Disbelief' is that point in the movie where you actually forget you are watching a film and your critical thinking subsides. This can be momentary or last for 2 fucking hours (in a really good / entertaining movie! Think 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' or any Hollywood classic).

Wokeness DESTROYS the Suspension of Disbelief INSTANTLY and guarantees box office failure faster than the media can persuade you otherwise. No one gives a shit about your values when they plop down money to be ENTERTAINED, not lectured to. And here's the kicker: even people who share your political values don't want to plop down big bucks to be LECTURED TO AGAIN. This is why decidedly Leftist films do not succeed tremendously with Left-leaning people either. At some point they cease to be movies and become only PROPAGANDA pieces.

Sisu - The Road To Revenge [They Should've Called It "MY ROAD TO POVERTY!!"]

Never, NEVER stand between a man and his revenge quest.

Just when I thought nothing in the world could be blown up and completely destroyed BY ONE MAN I stumbled upon this epic ode to man-made chaos, SISU!! And then imagine my utter surprise when I found out that this was a SEQUEL and that somehow, among my stumbling, overworked and UNDERSEXED life I MISSED THE FIRST MOVIE!!!

But let me DIGRESS (don'tcha just love hearing that?) 

The first time I tried to watch this movie I FELL ASLEEP.  Not because it was boring (I'm a guy and I count every explosion as a reason to keep living) but because I was just FUCKING TIRED. I left the theater regrettably, having lost some hard-earned bucks. But while away my mind kept telling me to try again and finish the movie. At about this time I discovered that 'Sisu The Road To Redemption' was actually a SEQUEL. WTF... A Sequel! So I staggered over to TUBI.COM to find the first movie and mark it for watching (which I did).

Being a big YouTube watcher I promptly forgot this and sleepwalked my way over to the site and promptly paid nearly 4 dollars to rent the movie for watching later. So I PAID for what I could watch FOR FREE on TUBI !!!

DAMMNNN!!! Fatigue is a motherf*cker!!


But the rented YouTube movie was only $4 so WTF.


Now you'd think my self-inflicted nightmare was over but oh-no! It was just getting started.
So... a week or so later (TODAY) I went back to the theater to finish watching 'Sisu [PART 2], The Road To Redemption'. Ultimately paying TWICE now to see the damn thing! Yikes!

So my whole Sisu misadventure has cost me about, $42.00 -and that includes buying $9.00 popcorn buckets TWICE.

Popcorn for 2 theater visits: $18.00

ANNNYWWAYYY.... what did I think of 'Sisu, The Road To Revenge'?? It was everything I wanted and then some! Bare in mind that this movie was watched without watching the original film, 'Sisu'! It's not as bad as it sounds because the movie is self-sufficient and stands on it's own merits.

Okay. Enough of that!

THE MOVIE REVIEW STARTS HERE:

'Sisu, The Road To Revenge' is a great example of what I have chosen to call a 'Mythological Narrative'.

After classifying this film in such a way I actually thought I had invented a new category of film -but my critical mind told me, "CHECK THE INTERNET. THERE'S NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN". And there of course I found plenty of dramas with narratives that have mythological narratives. By saying 'mythological' I am straddling the difference between legends and mythologies because the two are often intertwine. It's like the legendary City-State of Troy in Homer's Iliad. We all know there are no Sea Sirens to lure sailors to their doom but Troy itself was an actual ancient city.

Make no mistake about it, the film has serious wall to wall action but through it all is a current of 'unrealism' but not to the degree that it makes you scoff at the film or it's plot. In fact it's so deeply ingrained in the narrative that it becomes nearly ironic (as if it shouldn't be so but is).

Throughout the narrative the viewer is constantly reminded that Sisu is now considered a 'legend' and thus the villains are highly aware (for the most part) that they are dealing with someone who is like a Superman. He lives up to this ideal as well in nearly hilarious ways. Inventing his way straight out of back-to-the-wall incidents. Relying on stunning luck and coincidence that, thanks to the buid-up that this guy is LEGENDARY does not really shatter the all important aspect of 'suspension of disbelief'. It all falls neatly into place. One impossible escape after another.

All in all this is a very good way to spend an hour and a half of your life, just as long as you have a plenty of snacks and good sense of wonder (and stomach) for the excesses of human evil.

One Wrong Turn After Another!

 

The film ('One Battle after Another') has obvious political overtones to burden it (for better or worse). But having said that it could be a critical success if not financial... and that has a lot to do with 'Word of Mouth'.

I saw the movie (had to say that because some reviewers DON'T WATCH THE FILM!😜) but there was definitely some aspects of it that simply did not resonate with me on a dramatic level regardless of political affiliation. It seemed to lack relevance... (it's storyline linked the 70's battles for abortion rights with the present day battle for immigration rights -yet who in the world can relate to that link?)

Although both Leftist issues they are extremely different Causes in their own right. In other words you can be for abortion but against mass migration very easily and vice versa.

I guess my main complaint was that it lacks narrative direction.

SPOILER ALERT: had the film been solely about fighting for abortion rights instead of fighting for ANY RIGHTS (midway the film switched from abortion rights to immigrant rights) it would not have appeared to me as directionless. When the daughter runs out at the end to "join a different battle" it simply didn't do anything to support her character's quest to understand her mother at all. It was simply, "I'm going to fight for something too" -which is a universal sentiment, not a personal one.

Regardless I've seen a lot of pure CRAP this year from Hollywood as we all have. This movie didn't make the Crap List at all. 😆

Half-Ass Crossdressers and Transsexuals Piss Me Off!

 

Is this real? A male 'fairy God-Mother' at Disney World or Land? This is unintentional-intentional humor at it's finest.😀

At some point when organizing this you know the Big Shots had to think, "WTF are we doing? At least shave, bro!"

Man, there's nothing worse than a half-ass transsexual, drag-queen or crossdresser.

A FEW TOUCH-DOWNS SHORT OF A HIT MOVIE

'Him' is a great "concept movie". It proposes that the NFL and it's choices are actually [SPOILER ALERT!!!] controlled by a cult of Satanic businessmen, cheerleaders, sports doctors and trainers. And at the center of this is the current reining super quarterback, Isiah White*.

But of course in Hollywood's most recent fashion; it's most current ideation of "let's destroy it to see how well it works", the concept isn't executed correctly or should I say in a more entertaining manner.

The pacing, the scenes, the revelations are all ponderously executed. As if the script for this thing wasn't REALLY FINISHED OR REVIEWED. It feels 'green-lighted'- as a matter of annoyance instead of determination. And it's main premise, that of the Satanic worshiping football league isn't fully explored to his horrific potential.

Simply put the film wasn't SCARY ENOUGH. It didn't shock or rise to the level of shock. It sort of COASTED on the screams of the last BETTER horror movie you watched.

To tell you the truth I could've anticipated this from director Jordan Peele. His films always have a political subtext that feels jammed into the narrative, not worked into the script. Here he takes his usual jabs at "Whitey" and the ill-effects of slavery on blacks (never mind the modern, more general Black American experience of ultimately rising above the evil days of bondage to attain some success in the USA). We've got to be reminded every film that Jordan does that the "System" is rigged against the black man.

After a while you just want him to give it a REST.

Go Gina!

Life After Victory: Unfairly called a "Fascist'" when she voiced her supposedly 'Far-Right' opinion by the jokers at Disney, Gina won her lawsuit against them and plots a different MORE FREE course in the entertainment world.

Disney, which took over the Star Wars intellectual property and began a tyrannical, fan-ignoring change of the official canon and non-canon storyline, pathos and general meaning of the franchise has ZERO right to call anyone a DICTATOR.

 

There have been countless stories about World War 2 and the events that led up to it but all of them are significant of course. World War 2 represented the most dire moment in human history that all wise men that came before it feared: an attempt by One Man to take over the entire human race.

That being said there were many heroes who came to power in that dire moment to stop him (Adolf Hitler of course) and each story deserves to be told and examined for the sake of future generations and a warning to future madmen. The latest in that long line of stories is Bonhoeffer.

Bonhoeffer tells the story of a German priest, Dietrich Bonhoeffer , who's fish out of water condition due to his travels to America before World War 2, armed him with knowledge and tactic in dealing with the rise of a world dictator in his own country. Before the danger is realized Bonhoeffer had befriended Black American New Yorkers and their church / culture. Exposing him to the plight of an oppressed, Jim Crow era, blacks. He learned that some foes of minorities are hard to put down but resistance is not futile, it is mandatory. He then took those lessons with him back to his home country, Germany, which had slowly transformed into a Jew hating society following the madman, Adolf Hitler.

Bonhoeffer is a film carefully crafted. It pays attention to the emotional development of it's historical figure lead character and tries to give the audience the exact feeling that a man would face if he dared to stand up to blatant acts of evil. As most of us already know, this is no easy task because once in the target hairs of men who will do anything for power your time grows short and once more, the time of loved ones and friends. For they become targets too!

Pace-wise the film moves along grandly. You never once get bored. All the actors seem to belong there, not demanded there by some aggressive Hollywood agent. The emotional scenes are direct and to the point. And although we've seen similar stories countless times (past WW 2 centered films), this one is better because it gives an unusual perspective of a German citizen / priest dealing with mutually respective Black American citizen church goers. All of which realize that if someone doesn't act the world is going to become sludge under a dictator's army's boots!

Bonhoeffer is the man of the hour as he dares to defy the growing threat to mankind at it's start (before the actual intercontinental fighting began). And the realization that Hitler was even trying to REWRITE THE BIBLE to favor his Nazi propaganda was quite amazing!

You walk away from this film respecting and understanding how big of a bullet the world dodged thanks to men and women of courage during that terrible time in history.

'The Commuter' Travels Past Bad Reviews In My Book

Just finished watching 'The Commuter', a movie that I read some bad reviews on many years ago so I decided to finally watch it. And you know something, it wasn't half-bad! The film suffers the most from a poor set-up (narrative wise), and near over-exposure of actor LIAM NEESON as the 'everyman action hero'. His demeanor is so ordinary that he could be anyone of us forced to put on brass knuckles to defend our lives or jobs or nation!

After I got over these disagreeable things I tried to enjoy the film. It had some very good close quarter combat -being that they are on a narrow train (of course). And one scene in particular was extremely well done -a fight scene where Liam's character fights an assassin. Liam eventually is swinging a guitar at the guy who wields and axe! This fight sequence made watching the entire movie worth it. Only problem though is there was a huge continuity error during it involving the placement of a gun on the floor. When you see it you'll know what I mean. But all in all I do recommend it especially if you are an action movie fans or a woman that loves to see men fighting in suits (girls actually like that stuff, guys!)

THE SHAPE OF WATER

I finally got a chance to watch this must celebrated movie by GUILLERMO DEL TORO. It was worth the wait for all of the right and some may say, some of the wrong reasons. You see, I'm a big SALLY HAWKINS fan and she's the star / romantic interest in this movie. Now, I knew that I was going to watch it because GUILLERMO DEL TORO is one of my favorite directors / storytellers and when I heard that SALLY HAWKINS was in the movie it was a double whammy for me. But if someone had told me that she'd be doing nude scenes in this film --! Man, I would've seen it on the first day it was out! Hahaha. Well, everyone has a crush on somebody, right? Anyway, the whole movie, including the nude scenes were all done superbly! I was definitely not disappointed and the wait to watch it was worth it. It had a few storytelling errors in it and maybe I'll discuss that in an upcoming review... but overall, it's a must see film. A modern 'Beauty and the Beast'.

Love Star Trek? You're Gonna Love This!

'STAR TREK CONTINUES'

I've just finished watching 10 of 12 episodes of a fan-made production called 'Star Trek Continues' and it's one of the most thrilling series I've found on Youtube. Once you watch the first episode you'll be hooked! The characters may look similar or completely different compared to the classic TV show 'Star Trek' but those differences will melt away completely by the time you reach the 3rd or 5th entries mainly do to an incredible level of voice similarities and body language imitating by each of the shows great actors. Check this out and sit through it all if you can or go to my favorite episodes pictured below! 

Like the original series the scripts tackle modern day issues and does them in a gripping, edge of your seat way. 'Lolani' deals with the simultaneous issues of sexism against females and the evils of slavery and 'What Ships Are For' deals with illegal immigration in a way that's highly imaginative!! These two episode nearly made my jaw drop and any aspiring script writer / filmmaker would do himself a DISSERVICE by not watching them!! It all teaches the importance of seeking to master one's CRAFT before seriously considering oneself as being a 'professional'.

21 Bridges You'd Better Cross To See This Movie!

MOVIE REVIEW: '21 Bridges'


WARNING: Spoilers ahead!!

Here's a great improvement from the humdrumness of 2019's cop movies: '21 Bridges' is a pretty good, very exciting chase movie in which a couple of criminals who are novices to the world of illegal drugs stumble upon a large drug distribution ring being operated by New York's finest; and once they kill a bunch of officers (like EIGHT!) in the ensuing shootout all hell breaks loose on them! CHADWICK BOSEMAN plays the smudged badge detective Andre Davis in this chase-thriller and has to put in a LOT of footwork to find these guys by morning light for some reason (I forget the exact reasons,  has to do with the FBI taking over the case [I'm so visual I tend to miss out on some dialog as I'm examining some detail in a scene... SORRY).

In any case the film turns in some of the best performances I've seen in a while by newcomers and old-timers. Besides the convincing portrayal by CHADWICK of a cop under the Internal Affairs microscope for killing too many suspects in his career. Other performers shine really bright as well: SIENNA MILLER plays Frankie Burns, CHADWICK BOSEMAN'S character's assertive temporary partner with just enough spunk to make you think she's one of the good cops..., veteran actor J.K. SIMMONS plays senior officer Captain McKenna in one of his (shortest) best performances ever, STEPHAN JAMES plays Michael, one of the 2 criminals that discover the police conspiracy the story centers around; and TAYLOR KITSCH plays Ray, his partner in crime, who's 'almost in control but not enough' homicidal ex military gun for hire. These latter two actors almost stole the show because of their skilled performances.

For the most part the movie keeps you on the edge of your seat. You know every cop in it is dirty (except the hero to some degree [after all, he's being investigated by Internal Affairs...), but all you want to know is how and when will they take their eventual falls. In that department '21 BRIDGES' delivers!

Batman V Superman ''Batman Saves Martha WareHouse Scene'

Still the most brutal Batman fight scene of all! The Caped Crusader saves Superman's mother from a gang of thugs, fighting like it was his own mother a stake. And isn't that the point of Batman? To undo as much evil as he can in the memory of his own murdered parents? 

I don't care what anybody says, Ben Affleck made a great Batman. Damn shame his personal life (alcoholism) screwed up his plans for The Batman (not something anyone admits but all you have to do is read between the lines to see why he didn't end up directing the Batman franchise himself...)

Weak Stories and Lack Of Captivating New Villains Means Bad Bond Movies

Legendary musician and cultural icon Grace Jones chipped into the already declining reputation of James Bond by walking off the set of the latest Bond movie after discovering how few lines she had in the scene / movie! This is the 3rd disrespectful act that industry personnel have leveled at the critically struggling James Bond franchise. From the story:

'It had already been thrown off course by the departure of original director Danny Boyle, who quit over a script dispute, in August 2018.

And earlier this month a mutiny erupted on set after his replacement Cary Fukunaga, 40, skipped filming to play on his PlayStation.'

Decades ago it would've been career suicide to dodge a Bond movie. Now no one is even worried about the repercussions! I would claim that they are simply rich, spoiled people but when was the last time that a James Bond movie got you excited??

I remember when Bond actor Peirce Brosnan complained to producers that the scripts weren't tough enough. Bond needed to be rougher! What did they do? They fired him then took his advice and hired Daniel Craig. Thus we got a rough looking Bond who was more physical too. But why fire the man who gave you the idea in the first place? Craig's good by mixing Brosnan's good looks with roughness would've made a more attractive and dynamic visual element if you ask me. Like watching a beautiful woman getting dragged through the mud. There's a huge amount of 'I can't look away' occurring. But with Craig, if he gets dragged though the mud it's like, "Oh, he can take that. He's rough (looking)."
